How loud will the 2009TS DVA be?
I'm asking about this because on many trips on the Victoria Line, the DVA has been drowned out by the thunderous track roar as the train hurtles along towards the next station. Granted, the 2009TS is likely to be far less noisy than the 1967TS but will it be sufficiently loud to be heard?
The 1992TS DVA can barely be heard over the screeching in the Bank area - this may be a good metric for gauging saloon volume levels when setting up the DVA in the 2009TS, as there are some sections that are just as loud.

Hopefully it will increase in volume as the train speed increases. The C stock DVA has two volume levels, one for above 7 mph (IIRC) and a quiter one for lower speeds. I would expect the S stock to have something more sophisticated.

Ahh - I never knew that, ADW .... that would explain why it suddenly gets louder as you exit stations such as Embankment etc. on the Circle.

Very slightly off-topic. Has anyone noticed that long announcements at Fulham Broadway station get louder as they get near the end? The reason is that the system uses sensors dotted around the station to ensure that the announcement is always at a set level above any background noise. Trouble is, it picks up the announcement being broadcast, and tries to beat it by getting louder The point is, how sophisticated can we realistically be?

I would expect the S stock to have something more sophisticated. Ah, so I wasn't imagining things then! I always thought the C stock DVA seemed louder on occasion... Does the C stock DVA simply use the speedometer to gauge volume? If so I would expect the S stock DVA to simply use more volume steps for a greater range of available speeds.

To be accurate, (and when it comes to C stock, you know I like to be ;D), it uses the 7mph coil in the speed sensing unit to alter the volume

Surely the amount of speakers, and where they are positioned in the cars affects how well one can hear the announcements?
For example the 1973, D78 and C stocks have speakers evenly spread throughout the car, and it is very easy to hear. However when I am on a 1972mrk2 and 1967, I often have to strain, especially on the transverse seats or in the door areas to hear the DVA because there are limited speakers. In addition, I dont know if this is something to good effect, but it seems having the speakers celing mounted seems to make a difference to where they are mounted on the 1967/1972m2s but it could just be me.
There is a youtube video with a news presenter trying out a 2009 stock. At one point he is in the cab and there is evidence of a DVA control panel in it - surely anyone who has connections to the 2009 stock on this forum may know a fair idea of what the 2009 stock has to offer in terms of DVA?
