Colin is quite right. The final cab design is still emerging and we are not expecting to be anywhere near a final agreed scheme until at least 2 months time.

Things are moving on with the cab. A final proposed design has been assessed and meets requirements bar a few minor tweaks. There is a further design review at the end of this month and after that I will be able to update you all properly. In honesty though, it is functional rather than 'sexy' looking!

And does this final proposed design feature a left-hand or right-hand TBC?

Sorry adw, genuinely missed this question but I admit it looks a bit 'sus' as it was a BIG question!!
The final design regardless of layout will feature a left hand TBC, but I genuinely think they have reached this decision for all the right reasons. Please hear me out (I did drive once!), the cab is primarily restrained due to the crash protection and once that and all the necessary equipment has been put in place a left hand TBC is really the only way to go. The reason why the cab design is so late is because I held them up for nearly 8 months until they could prove that a left hand TBC was the way to go.
I am convinced that they have got this right and believe that MRSSL (for once) did all the correct things to assure us that it is right. They even employed the leading ergonomic's expert in the country who specialises in train cab design. The final design is almost ready and I think you will be pleased with the results and you will see why the decision for a left hand TBC was made.
I am currently pushing to do a 'road show' with the drivers seat and also want to get proper cab designs out to you all very soon. I want to come to your depots and speak to you all about this and personally go through the design. I assure you that this cab is going to be the best cab we have ever had on LU, I really mean that.

Whilst I was at Barking today, a driver noticed the images on the wall in the messroom and said "that looks a bit of a mess don't it? There's bit's & pieces everywhere!". I think you may well have your work cut out with that one prjb! ;D ;D

This left-handed TBC isn't going to be push to stop, pull to go, is it? That seems to be the arrangement on southeastern's Electrostars!

The photo's show bits of flat plastic stuck over an older mock up design. The cab is looking much better now.

[silly] How many cupholders will the S stock cab have? [/silly]
Seriously though, when will the final design photos be published for the perusal of 'normals'?

As usual OneKEA you are 'on the nose'. The cup holders have and are still taking up an awful lot of time to get right, it is an unbelievably tricky thing to get right. Seriously! There will be two, one for the driver and one for the I'Op.
The photo's will be issued by MRSSL when they get the go ahead from BTUK, LU will not be able to issue them before MRSSL unfortunately. If we have a meet near Christmas I will try to come along and update everyone.
