I hear that the S stock program is going to be accelerated, with production capacity at Bombardier doubled so that the last D stock will be withdrawn in 2013, earlier than originally planned. The 2013 date was mentioned in the Metro Travel page on Monday, which seems to confirm what I've heard.
Anyone able to confirm/deny/explain?

Originally the programme was designed to deliver the upgrade by 2013 but two years was added as a recovery margin for the inevitable delays. The contracts are based on the later date as everyone was convinced that they would be late (WCML, JLE, Central Line, etc etc). IF the delivery is complete 2013, the contractors get a bonus - or they would have done before Metronet went t*ts up.
