I've been wondering this for a while now. What is the name of the voiceover guy who does the security announcements at Kings Cross underground station? He also tells you which lines are suspended, etc. Any help in tracking him down would be appreciated!

If your thinking of the generic announcer, he does National Rail as well. Due to his voice being synonomous with delays, he has .....amazingly.... received death threats! Some "people" need to get out more.

I have noticed a voice at KX that sounds like the old 'mind the gap' announcements......but I am assured that it is a real person! Cracks me up, especially when the tourists all jump.

Kings Cross use the SMS (Station management system) and the majority of the PA's are generated using the system. One of the supervisors there told me that the system is American and has a few problems with some words and phrases. The worst example he cited was a service suspension between Chalfont & Latimer and Chesham, apparently the system has a huge problem with that annoucement.
I will try and find out the company that makes the software later next week, when I find myself less busy at work.

A KX CCA told me that it was a person! Must have been on a wind up. They are amusing though.

A KX CCA told me that it was a person! Must have been on a wind up. They are amusing though. It's a text-to-speech function, as part of the station's SMS (Station Management System). I believe that every SMS has the ability to do this, however whether it's enabled or used is another matter. The standard "Voice Perfect" DVA used at non-SMS stations has a text-to-speech facility, but the command button is always greyed out.

The male voice can't seem to pronounce Stratford... strat - FORD. Some sentences come out a bit of a mouthful. I dread to think what would happen if he read things out in French to benefit the Eurostar people arriving... He should have stared as another friend of WALL-E....

Folks, the male announcer at Kings X is real, he was interviewed on Radio 4 a few years back.

Who did the auto announcements at Leicester Square Northern line... Quite remember the way he used to slur the words 'Stand' and 'Doors' so that they became Schtand and Doorsch. ;D
And cue Mind the Gap at Embankment, Bakerloo!
Hang on... select Polish and Krystof - the twin of Daniel!
