OK I wasn't sure where I should put this, but I looked at the live departure screen for Willesden Junction today, and clicked on a LUL train. It appeared that this train was being tracked across the network (or had been from Harrow and Weald as far as Willesden), just like a NR train would be. Now, I always understood that the NR Live Departure board worked on a 'monitoring system' (according to NRs website anyway). I understand that this means there is 'monitoring points' located all over the railway, at stations, and between stations. All trains have some kind of 'beacon' which transmits the headcode (or similar). When the train passes a 'monitoring point' that is trackside, the on-board 'beacon' transmits the information to the 'monitoring point' which enters the NR computer system, and the station screens and live departure boards on NRs website, are updated. If this is wrong please feel free to correct me. When I looked at the screen a bit ago, it looked like the Bakerloo Line train was being tracked. Here is a link (I hope- if I have done it right ) to a screen-shot www.babycakes.homechoice.co.uk/livedept.jpg I wondered how the information on the Bakerloo lines trains get onto the NR live departure system? Are the Bakerloo line trains fitted with the equipment to communicate with the trackside monitoring points? Or is the Trackernet system linked to the NR system somehow? Also if a Bakerloo line train was cancelled how would this information be put on the NR live departure system. Would the Bakerloo controller update it manually? Thanks

It's done through the dropping of track circuits essentially - works purely with signalling. If a Bakerloo is cancelled, it's still shown but just shows as No Report.

Bakerloo Line trains report accuretly via TRUST between Harrow and Queen Park as the 313s do, I work for LM and I can follow them reporting as the 313s of LO do, they run to proper headcodes aswell not just the LUL train numbers, the District is the same where it shares track with National Rail, its a requirement Network Rail insist on. So as National Rails website updates using the internal TRUST system the reports for the Bakerloo Line will be accurate between Harrow & Queens Pk and vice versa.
