Hi all,
Does anybody know what all the recent closures and the ones to come are for?
Thanks

Basically it's work to upgrade the signalling system so the line capacity goes from 24tph to 30tph.Hopefully with fingers & legs crossed it will all be over next year. Then they start on the Northern.

Are there any works being started on the Northern? Or is it all waiting for the Jubilee to be done?

Nothing much will happen on the Northern till the Jubilee is finished,I would imagine most of the project people will be the same and I think Thales has the resignalling contract for all three Tubelines lines.

After talking to a work colleague, I believe that work has started on the ATP/ATO upgrade on the Northern Line.
I think they are working on Highgate/Neasden VCC's.

Was there *any* engineering/testing work done on Christmas Day? I've heard rumours that some operating grade staff declined to co-operate when an appropriate renumeration wasn't forthcoming.

TfL put out a release saying that a lot of staff were working on xmas day and that live track runs were taking place.
Some staff will always refuse to work on xmas day no matter how much money is offered - whereas an equal number of people will be glad of an excuse to get out of the house and get paid a nice wage packet into the bargain.

The point is if no Jubilee Line I/Os or T/Ops were available who would be able to move the outstabled 96TS? If these, trains 701 to 704, remained where they were this would have prevented the engineers' train 545 from operating.

Could they not have been driven my Metronet staff (from the Special Trains Unit?)

Yes Metronet Test Train Ops could have done as I know at least three qualified on 1996TS in November (as I was on same course). Point is, did they?
