Well, the maximum permitted speed is 45 mph (between Gunnersbury and Richmond) so the fastest speed would be 45 * 20 / 3 = 300mph!

If you take away the stop times in platforms and the speed restrictions at Earls Court to West Ken, Gunnersbury and on the approach into Richmond, I'd say the average speed would be closer to 200mph

Oh, absolutely. 300 is a maximum, I doubt the average would be more than half that. If I get time later I'll look up the distance and work out the average,

OK, according to the timetable, Earls Court to Richmond is 9.91km.
9.91 km = 6.1578 miles

6.1578 miles in 20 minutes means 6.1578 * 3 = 18.4734 miles in an hour.
18.4734mph * 20 / 3 = 123mph average
