I thought I'd get a more honest answer here than on TfL's propaganda website. So.....
Can I walk, with a suitcase and with ease, from the DLR station at City airport into the terminal building?
If it's raining, will I get wet?
Is the daytime service OK or do they only run every 30 mins or so?
Thanks for your general answers.

I remember it being very easy and all under cover. Not sure about the frequency.

The entrance to the airport terminal is, from what I remember, directly from the DLR station concourse. The platforms are at a different level but there are lifts between the two and it's all under cover.
I've not actually used the airport, so I can't say what it is like in there though, but it's a fairly modern airport so it shouldn't be too difficult.
The DLR service frequency is every 10 minutes iirc.

It's a very quick walk, all under cover, and the airport is like a breath of fresh air - you'll be through security within five minutes of dropping your luggage off.

Thanks folks. I will be travelling regularly to and from London-Geneva for a few months soon and it looks like City is the best bet. Your help is much appreciated.

My brother uses City to go to Liverpool and Scotland on official business from his office in Victoria. The DLR makes life so easy!

It is all under cover. When I flew from City last year it took about 15 minutes from stepping off the DLR train to being sat in the bar with a beer waiting for the gate to be called!

I remember once about 4 months ago waiting on a platform at Canning Town and this American chap asking an on-platform PSA how long it would take for the train to get to City Airport from there. The PSA said 10 minutes, and the chap pulled a cloudy face, tutted and huffed, and in a loud Texas drawl stormed off, ranting "terrible service, absolutely terrible".
I was a bit bemused by that!

Of course you don't know what sort of journey he'd had to get to Canning Town that day. Maybe the final leg of the journey to City Airport was the straw that broke the camel's back.
City Airport station's a funny one - is it still really difficult to get into on a Saturday afternoon when the airport goes to sleep until Sunday? It took me ages to find the secret tunnel into it just after the station had opened.

it is really easily and there are lifts and a ramp from the paltforms to the front terminal no steps at all. Just remember all DLR stations are step free access so really easy to access

Sorry don't think you've understood my question ... I asked whether it was still a nightmare to get into on a Saturday afternoon when the airport is closed and all the doors to the front terminal (and thus the station) are locked. The first time I used City Airport station on a Saturday it took me about 5 minutes to find the alternative entrance because nobody had bothered to sign it. Things might have changed since then, hence me asking.
