Not sure if I am allowed to post pictures of them, but there is not much to look at. Basically its all the structural work being carried out at the moment.

I assume that the project involves stripping the car to the skeleton, and then installing the prototype refurbishment stuff, like the 1973 stock?

sorry to ask this again, has anyone got any update on this refurbishment or when we can expect to see what it will look like?
Will this refurb include the replacement of the roller blind destination indicators? I hope not as the 72 stock is the only one to still feature these and it gives such a traditional london underground look!

Indeed, the loss of the roller-blind would be sad.
I'm really hoping that they keep the transverse seating as to my mind it really doesn't take up that much standing space compared with longitudinal and you can seat an additional four passengers per car. Replacing the transverse seating would be a very expensive move.

Replacing the transverse seating would be a very expensive move. Removing the transverse seating would not be possible in my mind due to under seat equipment. (well, not possible without major work).

What equipment is under those transverse seats as a matter of interest?

Yes and this is why they are now my favourare stock on the network. It would be very difficult to change the transverse seats in my opinion.

The engineers were saying a few days ago that some seating needs to be ripped out somewhere to make room for wheelchair areas.

Wasn't a trial carried out on a 1967 stock car during refurb years ago. I think it was more of a test to see what was possible on the 1973 stock.

That sounds about right, but they were talking about how they would have to carry out a survey for an ideal location on the train which would work at every station.

The car involved was a trailer but most modern stock have accessible sections to the middle of the train. In the 1972 stock this is the 33XX motor car which has the 34XX UNDM on one side and the 43XX trailer on the other. The motor cars are not ideal for the work. How many cars need to be worked on? Perhaps the 43XX trailer may be the best car to mod if only one car is required to be modified. Thanks to Bowroad for this pic which is what I was looking for!

so any update on when we can expect a refubished example to be seen in passenger service or even before it actually enters service? 72 stock looking very tired these days and really showing their age!

What equipment is under those transverse seats as a matter of interest? Always grouped together, the T.V.I.C. (Triple Valve Isolating Cock)/E.P.B.I.C. (Electro Pneumatic Brake Isolating Cock)/B.R.V. (Brake Release Valve) and separately the D.I.C. (Door Isolating Cock)/Con.IC (Control (Motors) Isolating Cock). On the UNDM (34 car) there is also a Con.COS (Control Cut Out Switch) as there is no other place to put it (on the 32, 33 and 35 cars it is in the cab). Also there are batteries (and their respective fuses) and the 20amp Clean Feed fuses under the transverse seats.

More cars, more money so I guess they shall try get away with just the one car of each train.

I suppose the amount of wheelchair provision could be worked-out short-term from observations on lines already so fitted. It wouldn't be useful in the long-term, as such usage will grow as folk become aware that it is available.
Are such statistics being gathered?

Don't know of any wheelchair accessible stations on the Bakerloo line.
Harrow and Wealdstone has level egress on the terminating platform.

There are four currently I believe. I guess they plan on getting more step free access where possible.

According to the latest map (as supplied by Dstock7080) the Bakerloo has three stations which are step free from street to platform: - Harrow & Wealdstone
- Wembley Central
- Willesden Jct

There is additionally step-free interchange to the same-direction (e.g. southbound to southbound) Jubilee Line at Baker Street, same-direction Victoria Line at Oxford Circus, and same platform interchange with London Overground at Willesden Junction and South Kenton and with same-direction London Overground services everywhere else between Queen's Park and Harrow and Wealdstone.

There should be ramps in place to address this.

Actually that sounds about right. I expect this type of conversion to be carried out on the 43xx cars.

There should be ramps in place to address this. It could be the opposite of the 'Harrington Hump' - unfortunately, I can't think of anything witty to name it other than the 'Harrow Hole'...

Apart from new flooring installed, little change, bodies will be patch vinyled, most work is to the body structure, so majority of work is to mounting brackets for door pillars and underframe structure repairs to the longitudinal swan necks, and floor plate replacement.

Will the interiors looks much different after a full refurbishment? Will there be DMI's fitted and seating layout changes to match the likes of newer stock such as the 2009 stock or refurbished 1995 stock?
