Hi All
I think many of you will be interested in the two following dates, so try and keep your calendars free where possible.
On Sunday 13th April, there will be an offline C Stock farewell tour running Hammersmith-Moorgate-Amersham-Harrow-Uxbridge-Acton Town-Northfields-Upminster-Hammersmith. I was very surprised and pleased with the proposed routing. As I am sure many of you will be too!
The second tour will be the actual farewell for the C Stock and will be on Sunday 29th June. This will run on the C Stocks usual operating lines, so Hammersmith-Moorgate-Wimbledon-Barking via Edgware Road, then back to Hammersmith via a full loop of the Circle Line. Then once back at Hammersmith that will be it for this fleet of trains. Depending on your preferences you then either take out your box of tissues or party poppers as the train leaves the platform for the depot for the last time!
Obviously the LTM have not released any details of these trips yet, as timings and prices are yet to be finalised but I thought I would give you all a heads up in terms of dates.

Thanks. So will there be an official last day with a C stock running a regular timetabled run available to the normal fare paying passengers, like when the A stock operated train 412?

The June date could be an issue as it's the day after my first wedding anniversary but the off line tour sounds great!

Excellent news... well, not that they're going, but that there will be two decent tours. Hopefully I'll get on both of them!

The timetable for the tour on 13/04 is just being finalised. Once it has been approved the tickets can be produced and go on sale to the public. Not long now hopefully!

The tickets should go on sale at 08:00 (online sales) or 10:00 (telesales) on 17/03/14. I will be your Operating Official, so I look forward to seeing you there. It should be a really good day and is for a good cause too. #workhorseofthessr

13th April railtour could be interesting, as it is also marathon day of course!
Presumably stewards will be needed for both dates? Does anyone know where said stewards are coming from? I'm speaking as someone who has had the training for the 4TC set and Met353, but has not had either any training for electric outings like the 1938 stock or in this case C stock. I'm also not privy to internal info, being reliant on things coming via the relevant museum channels.

Will it be through the LTM events booking page on their website? Many thanks!

There should be 2 stewards per car with 2 operating officials on board too.

My father, Tom Conniffe senior, was the guard on the very first C Stock to enter scheduled passenger service (the late Vic Copeland was the driver). At the 'A' Stock farewell tour, which he attended as a former Ricky-based driver, he was promised by someone in authority (although he doesn't remember who - was it you prjb?) that he would be invited to the 'C' Stock farewell tour but so far has heard nothing. Do any of you with some inside knowledge know who he should contact - or, better still, who will contact him?
Thanks in advance
Tom - THC

Interesting route. I can confirm that C Stock did work in passenger service to Amersham. During the staff shortage of the early 70s I was based at Baker St and I did an Amersham & back on one. The running SM commandeered a Circle at Baker St to fill in a long gap in the extension service. I was "persuaded" to do the trip. We went all stations. I don't know if any C Stocks went to Uxbridge or Watford.

As this would appear to have been a very ad hoc arrangement I assume that the on-board route maps would not have been altered for these excursions?

And I went on one heading from the City to Watford at some point in the late 70s or early 80s. I went as far as Harrow to enjoy the experience, having only intended to go to Finchley Road.
