The cheapest extention involving a couple of new trains would be Barking to Grays. They were also supposed to add a third carriage.

Driverless trains will come. The management look at what are the most expensive grades and abolish them. The company plan was all about getting rid of Chief Clerks and Station Inspectors and after, when they realised there were more Station Supervisors 1's because they were in the control rooms they created the control room assistant. The most expensive operating grade is the driver. Open stations are often left unmanned and it will not be long before you have area supervisors and duty managers won't be needed.

The tube map is a good guide to staff free travel availabilty. as crossrail is Tfl the extra availability from Shenfield to Maidenhead and then as allowed for Reading. It will be a great benefit or will there be restrictions.

I still have COCP in my mind and how did they get round the ban on C stock beyond Barking which in the District line thread says they were only cleared for passenger service a couple of years ago. I certainly remember in the late 1990's, two c stock were stabled at Upminster and in passenger service and this lasted for a week because they hit the platform edges when laden.

Passenger trains have used this route during emergencies and weekend engineering work.

Were not C's banned beyond Barking because they swiped the platforms at Elm Park and Heathway. I seem to recall some transverse seats.

In the 60's I had a child privilege ticket and when I bought a ticket from Wapping to Plaistow the booking clerk had to write out a paper ticket as the fares from Bromley by Bow to Upminster were composite fares and not part of the priv zonal areas because British rail ran those stations.

My first post: I remember 1975, 1980, & 1981 when West Ham FC played at Wembley and the undeground ran four specials that called all stations to Aldgate East then non stop to Wembley Park. Can anyone remember what stock? was it COCP? I remember the trains being decked out in West Ham colours probably by the drivers. With S7 stock will we see it again in the unlikely event West Ham get to Wembley again. The playoffs this season might be too soon.
