As you may know, non-refurb DM 3016 and refurbished DM 3052 have made it in to preservation, but has anyone got any idea whether a full four car unit will be preserved (working or otherwise) by LTM or an external preservation group?

Apparently, Acton suffers from a severe 'lack of space', so something will have to go to make way for anything else that comes in!
Its all down to making the best choice!

Maybe convert Actons depot to a solely serviceable heritage train depot and move all the buses and stuff that doesnt move to somewhere else?

ATM - Acton Train Museum. Sounds better, but it does help to keep all of Londons transport heritage in one place, as it then caters for everyone all of the time. Plus, it would help with Acton being open more often. Where else would the 'buses and stuff' go? Reopen Aldenham!

Surely there must be space at one of LU's depots? Sarah Siddons, the 4TC and the class 20s are normally at Ruislip, and CHT's 60TS is at Northfields. So why does the 38TS, and anything else the LTM preserve have to go to Acton?

As you may know, non-refurb DM 3016 Actually, I didn't even know there exists a non-refurbished 67TS car! How come?

2 X 8 car trains should be kept as Bakeroo spare incase anything goes wrong. They could be converted to 72ts with relative ease and have the near correct interiors. As Acton scrapped all their spare 72 stock it seems foolish to let it all go!

As you may know, non-refurb DM 3016 Actually, I didn't even know there exists a non-refurbished 67TS car! How come? Unit 3016 was damaged in an accident in Northumberland Park Depot. DM 3016 was preserved but hasn't been restored. Trailer 4016 was scrapped. 4116-3116 were converted from 'D' to 'A' end and became 3016-4016, and two 1972TS Mk1 cars (4024-3204) were renumbered to 4116-3116 (so that the 72TS cars would be at the inner end of the unit).

How many non-refurb 72s are still parked up around the network except for the Aldwych unit?

How many non-refurb 72s are still parked up around the network except for the Aldwych unit? As well as 3229 at Aldwych, 3215 is at London Road and 3511 is at Hainault. I think all the others have gone now.

I still think the major depots could just adopt a mascot heritage train each. It'd be good for staff morale and company PR.

I wonder how much a four car double-ended 67 in full working order would cost to buy and insure?

TBH I'm not surprised at all. Mushed front end, left to rot pretty much.. sad really. Oh well.
The site is up for lease as the council want to slap flats there, don't they?

A shame about 3016, but considering the damaged ends and the fact the car was already derelict when it arrived at the Pump House site, it was probably lucky to survive as long as it did. So unless any 67 stock trains get saved by LUL as a contingency, it currently looks like 3052 could be the sole car to survive.

Are there many 67's left... shame one cannot be saved other then the acton one.. Always a risk these days have only a sinlge vehicle saved.

Seems such a shame that a whole set has not been saved (yet), im sure quite a few people including me would be willing to donate towards that cost of preserving at least a 4 car set.

The present state of LT rolling stock preservation is as follows: - 1938 Tube Stock (operational)
- 1960 Tube Stock (being restored to operational)
- Q Stock (some work done, might run day, don't hold your breath)
- Standard Stock (stored undercover, could run, if ever the money was available)
Even if all four were in running condition - as is normal practice in Berlin, Paris and New York - all four trains are in painted Train Red condition. In some ways that doesn't bother me, that was in my opinion the best livery and should still be in use today. However, none of these represent the 50-odd years of unpainted aluminium cars in use on LT/LU. First of all they were spray-painted by vandals, now they're being airbrushed - out of history! The preservation of a 1967 Tube Stock in operational state is a non-starter, not least the lack of deadman's handles (yes, I know they operated one 'off-piste' recently). The better idea is funds committed to Cravens Heritage Trains 4-car 1962 Tube stock with the aim of getting authorisation to run it on non-ATO parts of the LU system in due course.

Does the train of unrefurbished 1972 stock used for filming count as preserved?

I'll say it again, LUL should consider a couple of 67 sets for back up for the Bakerloo Line.
Don't forget unrefurbed A stock - hopefully....
