Wasn't there a claim in the past that somebody got a 1973 stock unit up to 75mph in weak field?

I agree with you on that one DS18. How the hell can he try and outrun a train, lose his legs then get $1.4 millon? The article also adds that the NYC Transit Authority were 75% to blame. They never made this guy and his friends walk along the track, how can it be 75% their fault? Just because there's red tape between the platform pillars or engineering work going on, it doesn't mean you have the right to run along the trackside!

Were they in service or could they have been sent to stable in Stratford platforms?

I'd just like to mention that some discounted tickets do actually show a code on the barrier - though it has been some years now since I last manned a barrier. Certainly 'child' tickets are easy to spot. The barriers actually show 'Child' on the screen, so it is fairly obvious.

I thought in that case, a 'None' result would be issued rather than 'Fail' and another driving test would be arranged.

I took my car theory in 2003 at Bournemouth, failed due to having cocked up the hazard perception bit (30 out of 75) though I did OK on the questions (32 out of 35), passed 2nd time though (Q - 30 out of 35 / HP - 59 out of 75) .
Practical was failed twice in Bournemouth (May and August 2004, had 3 serious faults in both and at least 15 minors!!!), then passed with just 2 minor faults at Paisley on September 2nd 2005.
Phil, the certificate (pass or fail) is given inside the car. The examiner will tell you your end result and will hand over the Driving Test Report.
According to statistics, in 2005 there were 858 accidents during driving tests; 90 non-test accidents; 386 near-misses on tests; 33 physical assaults; and 348 verbal assaults. (sourced from DFT)

These 'so-called' celebrities on the celebrity edition, either Z-list has-beens or former BB contestants! No wonder people were chanting 'who are ya? who are ya? who are ya?' when they went in...

The following is quoted from the National Rail website:Time Reported | 15th Jan 22:59 | Route Affected | London Paddington – Reading – Swindon – Kemble - Gloucester - Cheltenham Spa | TOC(s) Affected | First Great Western | Description
| Train services between Stroud and Swindon are being disrupted due to a train derailment in the Kemble area after a landslip. There are no reports of any injuries to members of the public or train crew. Train services are at a stand and subject to alteration. There is currently no estimate for a normal train service to resume. |
Suprisingly, First Great Western's website has no mention of the derailment at all, the Live Update page states there are no network updates.

Here's one I made earlier, a SWT Express liveried CIG! Kind of suits it in a way.

When you say 'full SWT' livery, do you mean in the same style as 450s or as seen on 159s/444s/458s? I wonder what one of the CIGs would look like in modern SWT livery?

As far as I know, 442s are not cleared on the Brighton main line. A 442 did visit Brighton however on a railtour not long after delivery.

I used the 442s fortnightly from 1997 to 2004 when I was away at school in Hampshire. Used them once or twice in 2005, but not since. So what is happening with them, are they being withdrawn? They're too good to be scrapped, but if SWT wants rid of them, perhaps they could be disbanded and the coaches integrated into other TOCs Mk3 HST/LHC stock.

The problem with older PCs running Windows 98 and earlier, is that in most cases you would have to format your hard disk, which means everything will be deleted, and you would have to reinstall the operating system to remove the spyware. With newer operating systems such as Windows XP, you have System Restore, which enables you to go back to an earlier configuration that worked, the disadvantage of that is that you may have to reinstall certain programs.
What you must remember, is that some spyware programs actually pretend to be spyware removal utilities.
Below are five genuine spyware removal programs available.
Webroot SpySweeper Spybot Search and Destroy Microsoft Windows Defender Spyware Blaster Lavasoft Ad-aware

Whilst it's sad that he's gone, at least he went on a high, doing something he enjoyed, and whilst still famous, rather than ending up as a has-been on the dole.

Which one's Salisbury 2? The one in the city centre or the massive one on the Southampton road (near the Strikers bowling alley)? Also, what's a Code 3?

There could be the potential for a Met-style semi-fast service towards London I suppose if the Central did get extended out to Stansted, you could have a calling pattern such as Stansted - Harlow - Epping - Loughton - Woodford - Leytonstone - Stratford - then all stations to White City / Ealing Broadway / West Ruislip. The other services could just be stoppers to Woodford / Leytonstone.

The last offical CLP was in 2004 I believe (no I wasn't on it before you ask! ;D), but I'm pretty sure there could still be spin-offs of it though.

I suppose they could have just diverted trains via Hainault, calling additionally at the stations on the loop en-route.

Do you know what the cause of the delays were, was there a one-under or something?
