Took my first journey on the Northern through the City this morning (don't let the pseudonym fool you) since TBTC completion & new timetable in Dec. Much improved speeds from London Bridge to Euston. Also got a seat. V impressed all in all.

Overall, the journey from Totteridge to Bank is much faster than before but it could be much better in all honesty. The Picc Line is consistently fast. Really? Unless you are travelling from Hammersmith to Acton Town, the Northern is clearly faster. Using the WTT running times High Barnet to King's Cross 17.07km in 27.75 min = 36.91 kph (11 stops) Edgware to King's Cross 15.43km in 26 min = 35.61 kph (10 stops) Cockfosters to King's Cross 16.22km in 29.5 min = 32.99 kph (11 stops) not up to Jub/Vic levels yet though Stanmore to Baker Street 17.99km in 27.5 min = 39.25 kph (12 stops) Walthamstow to Victoria 16.03km in 23 min = 41.82 kph (10 stops) |

Maybe it's got to do with the running times of King's X to Stepney Green (H&C) compared to Bank to Stepney Green (District). |
