Presume everything went smoothly with the NMA5 go-live on Sunday? [br It seems so: it was in revenue service by about 3pm on Saturday apparently. No more Y2 for drivers to hit just outside Mordoom.

So it's just Chalk Farm to Edgware left to go TBTC now? Yes NMA6 should go live sometime in April Apparently they've left this until last because there are 30-something possible moves at Golders making it the most complex part of the line. I'd be interested in hearing what the plans are to modify and refine the system once the whole thing is operational and after things have settled down, had a proving period, etc.

That said, however, there is work to do until the end of the year at least.

How much of the upcoming non Edgware branch closures of the Northern line is to do with TBTC refinement, and how much is to do with track and other work?

Any closure other than the next couple of Edgware branch closures are not TBTC will be track replacement and reconditioning. There are no more closures for TBTC anywhere else on the Northern line. Any new software or other changes will only be done in engineering hours.

There are currently 13 shunt signals capable of providing a total of 31 routes, some of these can be taken in combination too. there's also multiple running signals some with more than one associated route. I just tried counting the various moves but my brain is too tired to concentrate properly. I remember it was awkward when i was doing my line knowledge a few years ago!

After a quick glance at the plans, I make it 51 routes in total, inclusive of 3x draw-up signals but excluding 6 slots. This sounds more than it actually is though, because this includes for example the southbound approach which has 3 signals (G.1, G.200 and G.2). I think the complication with Golders Green is not so much the variety of routes, but the way the site has quite a number of routes available in a very small physical space. Both the station layout and particularly the depot throat are extremely cramped.

Dont worry about earlier posts i have been told it will be in operation in the next four weeks Yep that's the official stance I believe I don't know what you mean by "official". The project team had a "stretch" target date of April but this was never promoted elsewhere to avoid the problem from the Jubilee where dates kept changing. To londonboy - whatever you have been told is now wrong. Within 4 weeks means by 25 April? Won't be live by then I can assure you. A date for NMA6 will be forthcoming after the next weekend of testing. You'll hear it here once our staff are told.

Not a signal head, a marker plate although does seem different to other sites there is a RM and a EP (crossed out) then after that a route secure, this seems different to the Jubilee TBTC perhaps someone with the a better understanding can explain.

We will have to wait and see then? i work on the Northern and it was my line manager that told me it will go live in the next 4 weeks. I'm sorry you've been given duff info. I hope it wasn't very recently this was said. You'll see from your upgrade noticeboard that there has carefully been no mention of a date for NMA6 yet; this is very deliberate. Promising dates and failing to achieve them was fairly regular during the Jubilee upgrade and we are keen we avoid that on the Northern especially since the project is still around 7 months ahead of contract so it is all a good news story. Watch for a bulletin during the week of 7th April when there should be more certainty.

We have been sent an email at work saying to make sure all staff remain in place for their duties on 4th May incase they decide to "Go Live" with TBTC like they have done in the past in the NMA's Sunday 4th of May is system testing only. There is no possibility of going live on or or at the end of that day. I would guess if you're station staff it is just in case the station is staffed if the testing is cancelled. Will the June one feature any increase in frequency or will that come in the December change? Sorry, I can't remember the exact details but will include improvements in journey times and a slight increase in kph on the central and northern branches (an extra couple of tph).

How did the testing go - is the NMA6 commissioning still on schedule?
Will there be a period of "asset removal" once TBTC is running throughout the line, as per the VLU?

There wasn't much on the jubilee, lots of the old assets are still there.
