But of a rant but I've just spent the best part of half an hour at Croxley waiting. The 9.38 was cancelled. So much for the controllers looking to reduce the gap. It's seemingly easier not to bother. If I'd known I'd have made other plans but they're advertising Good Service north of Baker Street. thanks for missing my appointment
this 15 minute interval timetable is a nightmare when trains get cancelled

Is there a speed restriction on the northbound direction from NXG at Silwood my train went very slowly past the works. Most likely you were approaching a red waiting for a train off Clapham Jn to clear?

I'm really surprised Whitechapel isn't on the press release. It'll become a much busier hub once Crossrail opens in 2019. EDIT: The work at Whitechapel may come under the Crossrail contract. Yes, you can't extend the platform with the footbridge there. Once Crossrail delivers the new pedestrian access, the footbridge can go and platform extension should be simple

Sorry I don't know but if they do need to hopefully they'll have another stab at sorting the frontage given the abysmal changes they've just completed

I've noticed it seems to happen more to hangers on - my name for those that contort their bodies while passing through to keep the oyster card on the pad for as long as humanly possible through reaching backwards

In these circumstances it is always best to get the first train to Harrow. There are often trains coming into service at Wembley going to other destinations or occasionally getting turned at Harrow. Finally an Uxbridge arrives after 3 consecutive services to Watford, the last of which was understandably almost completely empty. perhaps to keep the vocal Pinner user group happy?

Officially there shouldn't be any priority, it's down to who's due first out by the timetable. However as Southern trains have a lot further to go, and can cause more delay further on, they'll be let out first at NXG. My heart sinks when when I'm on time and pull in to NXG, only to see a Southern just pulling in to platform 2 at the same time. LO trains have a huge amount of stand time anyway at NXG when on time so I'm surprised that a Southern at the sametime interferes. It must be fun though watching the dash across the platform for those in a rush to get home.

That's just the rolling stock class that the train was pathed for - if all classes in a family of train have the same acceleration/braking characteristics, then Network Rail treat them all as the same for timetabling I'm surprised at that. I'd always assued that the 75mph top speed meant they were geared for faster acceleration.

Interestingly enough (or not) it says it was a Class 375 which is surprising considering LO only have one class of electric train

I don't really understand why Met-line users think they deserve a service that nobody else gets. Regularly on here we see Met-line customers complaining about reduction in tranverse seats, lack of fast trains etc. But these are luxuries which most of us don't get. For me, as a High Barnet passenger, we have no fast service or tranverse seats, and just have to make do with the service we have (which is perfectly good enough). For everyone other than the small number who use Amersham/ Chesham/ Chalfont, journey times to/ from central London are hardly much longer than they are for me on the Northern, ansd similar to those experienced by District and Central line (Epping) customers. You're thinking in the same way that TfL do - that it's a bog standard tube line. It's different and has huge amounts of wasted resources sitting idle most of the day.

I'm sure that 3 or 4 car class 117 dmu's worked this service years ago. Seems crazy that only 2-car units were ordered for this service in the first place!!. In the current peaks, even a 3-car 172 is packed!! Although aren't the new trains 23m long? Not exactly like for like in terms of numbers of cars.

The escalator queue at CW should prevent too much over-crowding on the tube though we might start hitting the Holborn issue where there's still a crowd waiting to leave when the next crowded train arrives though thankfully CW has extra space

Roll on 5 cars! Passengers were left behind on my train this morning at every station from Brockley to Surrey Quays this morning. A deserved victim of its own success.

One thing I don't get. Let's pretend I'm new to the London Transport system and I begin my journey in December without a smart phone. I'm beginning from either Canonbury or Highbury. How would I be able to tell the quickest route to Clapham Junction if there are two, one on each line, departing at roughly the same time? Isn't that just the same as a person arriving at Euston wanting Watford Jn, a person arriving at Paddington wanting Reading? Most folks would count the stops and get on the one with fewer.

Aren't the yellow handrails something to do with the DDA? I seem to recall that yellow is the easiest colour for people with sight issues to see. I think you are correct. I seem to recall all buses have yellow grab rails. They don't operate on the Circle Line. On Arriva they're cream

I wondered this too and without any knowledge I'm guessing that without aircon you need the end of car windows to throw air in. I'll stop now and leave it to the experts ...

Bombardier should be able to build side displays correctly. The Electrostar range has them. To be fair, these are mounted internally, visible through the window

This is all very true but could they do 60 finsbury park to seven sisters and back maybe? a couple of posts before yours suggests that 50 is the train limit too regardless of what you saw on the speedo.

I work in IT and Virgin Media have an awesome reputation amongst my colleagues. In my last house their service was beyond reproach and I'm sad now that my new house cannot have cable. ADSL modem reboots are unfortunately all too familiar now.
Well done VM. Well deserved.

Now that passengers are used to all off-peak Amersham/Chesham trains running slow, when service patterns and times are altered due to engineering work, times and stopping patterns should in my view be displayed. Passenger information anywhere north of Northwick Park tends to be very poor in my opinion at any time.

Automation is just stilly i am happy with the service on the Circle and District lines! They usually come one after the other never have to wait more than 4 minutes for a train! Driverless trains are not going to resolve disputes are all the current drivers to go when automation comes? but boy are they slow! I thought that'd be like a dagger through your heart!
